Access to China


By air: Air China is the national flag carrier air service. You can get to the mainland of China at Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong airports. There are many other airlines too which have flights to different part of the country. You have to carry your visas, permits and passport before travelling to China.

You can find difficulty in getting tickets during Chinese new years and at the beginning and end of summers.

 

By Land: You can enter China from the official border crossings between Hong Kong and Macau. Other border crossings of China are- Vietnam, Tibet-Nepal, Xinjiang-Pakistan, Xinjiang-Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang-Kazakhstan. While entering China via border, you should enter China within the time given after your visa is issued.

 

By Train: You can reach China in train that facilitates you from many of its neighboring countries as well as from the Europe. There are regular services linked to mainland of China from Russia and Europe, Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and North Korea.



Getting around

Boat Services: Boat services are common only in the coastal areas of China which are used to reach the islands like Putuoshan or Hainan, or the islands of Hong Kong. However they are important to China.

The boat services are used for freight and also carry passengers you ca take a boat to tour along parts of Yangtze River.

 

Air services: China has an extensive air network within the country. Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Southwest Airlines, Spring Airlines are the major airways that have nationwide as well as international flights while Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Shanghai Airlines are the regional ones.

 

Bus Services: You can use the public city buses for short transportation as they are inexpensive as well. Long distance buses or coaches are also available that will provide you a comfortable and pleasant ride; however, the price is a little higher. The roads are good and you can experience a smooth ride. Dragon Bus China has network across major parts of China.

 

Railway services: China has the most extensive network comprising nearly 60,000km of track. The railway network of China covers every region there in reasonable speed and comfort. You can find travelling through train an adventurous and efficient way to get around China and know its local people.
