Access to Bhutan

By air: The national airline of Bhutan Druk Air is the only airline in Bhutan. You can get flight to Bhutan from Kolkata (Calcutta), Gaya and New Delhi (India), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Kathmandu (Nepal) and Bangkok (Thailand).

Druk Air will only issue tickets after visa clearance (arranged by Tour Operator).

By land: You can enter Bhutan through Phuentsholing from the road of Siliguri (West Bengal) and through Samdrup Jongkhar, on the border with the state of Assam. Both the border crossings are from India.

Getting around

        Air services: Bhutan has no domestic air service.

Bus Services: Bhutan Post Express, government owned bus service, Dawa Transport and plenty of other companies operate minibuses in Bhutan. Three or four buses operate in a day between Thimphu and the major centres of Phuentsholing, Paro and Punakha. Fares and schedules are all monitored by the Road Safety and Transport Authority. The buses are generally crowded slow due to mountaim terrain.

As per rule, local buses are not for tourists.
