A promotional program has been set at the Indian borders to attract the Indian tourists to Nepal in NTY-2011. With the aim of bringing 300,000 visitors from The Nepal Tourism Year (NTY-2011) Coordinating Committee has already made necessary arrangements. According to the Dhurba Narayan Shrestha, coordinator of tourism sector, the program will be started at Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Raxual, Sitamadi, and Sunauli and other places at the Nepal-India borders. The committee has even surveyed the different border areas to find the possibilities to facilitate the tourists from India. Shrestha has informed that they have also planned one window system to provide the various facilities that the tourists required when they reach the border points for which Nepal Tourism Board and other private sector will be developing the system at various points. Nepal is going to promote NTY-2011 at Shanghai Expo going to be held from May 1 focusing on the Chinese tourists. The Expo is an international gathering trying to attract over 200 nations and international organizations to take part in the exhibition as well as 70 million visitors from across the globe is expected during the expo, said the organizer in the capital on Friday. During the expo, Nepal will showcase its cultural performances, heritages and other attractions which will help to increase Chinese tourists visiting Nepal. The most anticipated and highly expected Tourism campaign of Nepal, Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 is set to officially launch on February 26, 2010. With an aim to attract one million tourists, tourism entrepreneurs are urging to celebrate this campaign as "Year of Celebration". NTY Secretariat announced the program will formally begin with the illumination of the peace torch brought from Lumbini by Hon Prime Minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal at Tundikhel amidst a gala festival along with parades from six different place of the valley. Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with 6 travel trade companies participated in the Vakantiebeurs Holiday Fair 2010 held at Utrecht in the Netherlands from 12-17 January, 2010. The Vakantiebeurs Holiday Fair 2010 is the largest consumer travel fair and the world’s largest trade event in the Benelux region. The main theme of the Holiday Fair 2010 was “Meet the locals” where the visitors had opportunities to meet with exhibitors and have first hand information. According to an estimate, between 120,000-130,000 travel enthusiasts visited the fair of which 13,058 were trade visitors. The first day was exclusively reserved for the trade people. During the fair, NTB organised a multimedia presentation for the visitors regarding overall Nepal’s tourism products and Nepal Tourism Fair.
