Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign was launched in London on 3rd July. A tourism promotion program was organized at Arbedeen, Scotland in the United Kingdom which focused the NTY 2011. Dr. Suresh C. Chalise, the ambassador of Nepal to UK praised the various facets of age-old special ties existing between Nepal and the UK and expressed ideas to further deepening of relations through various economic co-operations besides tourism. Worshipful Lord Provost of Aberdeen Peter Stephen also said that such event will not only help strengthen the ties between the people of Aberdeen City and Shire and the Nepalese people but encourage new interest in tourism and other business sectors. Minister Counselor, Jhabindra Aryal has also presented Nepal's amazing tourist destinations, national heritages, flora and fauna and cultural sites of historical importance among other things. The program was organized by the Embassy of Nepal in London in coordination with the Nepalese Himalayan Association, Scotland and Scot- Nepalese Friendship Society.
A tourism promotion campaign was launched by the government of Nepal at Nanking Darbar Hall, Bangladesh on 5th July with the slogan “Nepal Tourism Year 2011”. With an aspiration to expose tourism industry of Nepal, the program was launched by a campaign team of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) titled “Together for Tourism Year 2011”. Following the foot steps of Oh Eun-Sun, the first Korean woman to climb the highest peaks in all continents, Junita Sambahamphe, a Nepali girl is aiming to attempt the same. Sambahamphe in her twenties, who made it to the summit of the highest peak Everest (8848m), last year left for Moscow on 15th May to start her adventure by attempting to scale Mt. The government of Nepal has come up with a new scheme to boost tourism in the Himalayan nation. According to the government officials, the foreign mountaineers who have climbed Mount Everest and another peak will get free Nepali visas for two years. Since the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 by New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, more than 4,000 climbers have scaled the 8,850 meter (29,035 feet). Among them some 700 of these foreigners are said to be still alive. A series program was conducted in Washington DC to promote Nepal Tourism Year 2011, and culture and tradition of Nepal. Kingfisher Airlines, a private Indian Airline operated its Kathmandu-Delhi-Kathmandu flights from April 24, 2010. This launching marks the commencement of the Kingfisher Airlines in Kathmandu. According to Tri Ratna Manandhar, deputy director at Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Kingfisher Airlines starts its flights from Delhi to Kathmandu from April 24, while Mumbai flights will only be after June 30. "Kingfisher Airlines was supposed to start its flight from March 20 but it was postponed till April 24," he said.
