The 3rd International Sagarmatha Day is going to be celebrated on May 29 as every year. The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and private sector are organizing various programs to mark the day of the first ascent to the world’s tallest mountain.
Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) along with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and other travel trade associations are jointly organizing a procession on May 29 to celebrate this day. The procession will begin from the premises of Nepal Tourism Board at 7am and will have the participation of Everest summiteers, government officials, industry leaders and trekking agencies, among others.

Edurne Pasaban, a Spanish mountaineer was offered to be goodwill ambassador for ‘Nepal Tourism Year 2011’, a national tourism campaign.
A program was organized in Kathmandu on 22nd May to felicitate Pasaban for summiting all the 14 mountains above 8000m in the world.
